My name is Jason Protheroe. I’m an outdoor photographer based in Basel, Switzerland.

An interest in photography came from a love of the nature, and wildlife that has followed me a lifelong, from the early morning bird watching walks with my father before school to guiding people through the underwater world as a SCUBA diving instructor. The photography bug was caught while hiking the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path in 2011. Living in Switzerland on the border of France and Germany, has given plenty of opportunities to nurture this further in the French Vosges Mountains, the Germany Black Forest, and the incredible Swiss Landscapes. My style varies as does the subject, but my aim remains the same. I want to capture a moment; I want to capture what I feel in that moment, this may be the sense of awe and emptiness from the sheer expanse of the night sky, the rush of seeing a lone mountain goat wake up to a frosty morning in the mountains or the fascination of the complex patterns in the simple flow of a wave.

In 2016 I started to dedicate more time to Photography. I created the Following Light blog as a place to share my experiences as well as show some of my work. You can also find me on other Social Media sites too.
