Out and About with No Plan

I'm still trying to find the time, still trying to fit photography in between everything else.

So what do you do when you don't have time to go out to take images? You take your camera everywhere you go and look for images where ever you are.

All of the images in this post are from the moments in-between, those times between the things that are getting in the way of taking pictures.

They were all taken in Basel, all taken with the Fujifilm GFX-50s, and are all carrying on with the theme from a previous post of a change in perspective.

I'm in no way moving away from Landscape and Wildlife photography, but it's nice to have another option when I can't get out of the city.

The title image, as well as the next three images, were taken from one of the bridges crossing the Rhine in Basel. This is a bridge that I walk over on my way to and from work. The water is lower than normal, which means that the tops of the water plants are exposed and appear to offer a good feeding ground as well as the wonderful colour which contrasts beautifully against the white of the swans. These images were taken on different days, since the first time that I noticed this composition, I can't help but take a look to see if they're back again each time I go by.

A modern side of Basel along the Peter Merian Weg close to the train station. I was lucky to be on this path during a public holiday, so there was hardly anyone around. Although this first image is a colour image and it appears that the red colouration has been emphasised, it hasn't.

The older side of Basel. These three were taken in and around Spalentor, one of the old gates of Basel from the time when the city was still encircled with a wall. One is taken along Spalenvorstadt looking towards Spalentor, the second two are two perspectives of the gate itself.

The last shot was taken on the way to the pub!

Although these images were taken over a couple of weeks, it goes to show that you don't always have to make your way to a special location to be able to get a shot. You just have to keep your eyes and mind open to the compositions that are already around.
